About the crime data

Crime figures come from the data.police.uk street-level crime API, published monthly by UK police forces. It contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Source: data.police.uk.

"This immediate area" means the property's LSOA (Lower Layer Super Output Area) — a small statistical area of around 1,500 residents used across UK government data. Crime counts are totalled for the whole LSOA, not a single street.

Two caveats worth knowing: individual crime locations are snapped to an approximate point (never the exact address) to protect victim privacy, and the published data lags real events by several weeks. The percentile compares this LSOA's crime density against every other LSOA in England & Wales.
